Speak Up: 9/30 Virtual Hearing

Oregon's Proposed "Climate Protection Program"

Virtual Public hearing #2 hosted by the EQC

-

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is developing a new greenhouse gas reduction program they call the “Climate Protection Program.” On September 22 and September 30, we have a crucial opportunity to have our voices heard: the DEQ will invite the public to submit comments on its plans for the program.

Currently, the draft program features some serious flaws, such as exemptions for fracked gas power plants and infrastructure and loopholes for Oregon’s biggest polluters, and it prioritizes polluters' profits over the health and safety of frontline communities experiencing the impacts of pollution every day.
