    WHAT: The poets, songwriters, and storytellers of commercial fishing will once again gather for the 25th annual FisherPoets Gathering.

    Join friends and/or make new ones as we celebrate the trials, triumphs and creative impulse of those who brave the waters to fish for the rest of us.
     
  • WHEN: Festival February 24-26, 2023.
     
  • WHERE: Various venues in Astoria, Oregon. 
     
  • HOW: Buy a $20 button to attend (good for all events) at festival headquarters (1188 Commercial Street) or at the door of any performance venue.

Events:

1. FisherPoets Workshop: “Dam removal: successes, challenges, and opportunities” with Amy Grodin of Duna Fisheries LLC, and Rob Seitz from South Bay Wild 

  • When: Saturday, February 25, Noon - 1:15 p.m.
  • Where: Clatsop Community College located at 1651 Lexington Avenue, Astoria, Oregon 97103. Find us in Patriot Hall, Room 206.
  • About: Due to the inclement weather Miles Johnson from Columbia Riverkeeper won't be able to attend. However, commercial fishers Amy Grondin (Duna Fisheries, LLC) and Rob Seitz (South Bay Wild) will continue the talk about Lower Snake and Klamath dam removal efforts. This workshop “Dam removal: successes, challenges, and opportunities” is for anyone who cares about restoring abundant salmon runs in the Pacific Northwest. With a focus on recent efforts to remove big hydropower dams on the Lower Snake and Klamath rivers. The good news: dams in the Klamath appear set for removal; what did it take to get to this point?
