Ingrid

Ingrid has lived in the Pacific Northwest for the last 12 years and 10 of them have

been working with the latino Community. From advocacy through the Head Start program, to organizing community forums and participating in demonstrations in favor of laws that benefit the community. Ingrid believes that there is strength in union and that it is through community that everything can be achieved. In addition to being our new program and communications coordinator, Ingrid participates as a co-host in Voces del Noroeste, bringing current news that are relevant to our community. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, playing video games with her son, hiking and biking.

What inspires you to do this work?

Getting to know the community, especially the immigrant community of Latin America (including myself) has opened my eyes to the reality that "The American Dream" can be a dream for some, but a nightmare for the rest. Adding to the environmental challenges we're all facing as human beings, we have to work together as a community, so we can restore the balance of our planet and raise our voices for a better future for all.

MEET THE TEAM

Riverkeeper’s team includes scientists, environmental lawyers, and community organizers. We work to organize and empower local communities, enforce environmental laws, and build strategic coalitions. Our mission is to protect and restore the Columbia River and all life connected to it.
