Karina Sahlin, Communications Coordinator
Karina Sahlin serves as Communications Coordinator for Columbia Riverkeeper, where she works to build effective, exciting, and inclusive communications strategies to support all life within and surrounding the Columbia River.
Karina has extensive experience in political advocacy and electoral justice, helping to secure progressive victories in Minnesota and New York City. She has specialized in transportation policy, reproductive and disability justice, and the decriminalization of sex work. Karina believes that environmental justice is social justice, and is delighted to join the staff of Columbia Riverkeeper.
Raised on the mighty Mississippi and Dnieper rivers, Karina feels most at home when on the water. In her spare time she hikes with her dog Rhubarb, and practices the banjo.
Riverkeeper’s team includes scientists, environmental lawyers, and community organizers. We work to organize and empower local communities, enforce environmental laws, and build strategic coalitions. Our mission is to protect and restore the Columbia River and all life connected to it.
