Successful and fun weekend: Dana Lyons and the Great Coal Train Tour

Blog post by Jasmine Zimmer-Stucky, Riverkeeper’s Community Organizer—

Every once and awhile it’s time to put the PowerPoint presentation away, silence the cell phone, and have a good time. Last weekend, Columbia Riverkeeper did just that. Three times, actually.

We needed a bit of help, and that is where Dana Lyons and the Great Coal Train Tour came in. Last weekend, Columbia Riverkeeper brought Dana’s engaging and inspirational music to three towns along the Columbia River fighting coal export. Dana Lyons and the Great Coal Train Tour will make many stops in communities that would be affected by current coal export proposals, from Billings to Bellingham.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Dana Lyons and the Great Coal Train tour concerts in Astoria, Portland, and Vancouver. Thank for you making these events both great fun and great fundraisers for the work Columbia Riverkeeper is dedicated to doing to protect the river from dirty coal export.

Special thanks to event hosts: Karmen and The Blue Scorcher Café in Astoria, Peter Wilcox and Bridget Bayer in Portland, and Sandy and Erskine Wood in Vancouver. This event was also supported by donations from Full Sail Brewery, Blossoming Lotus restaurant, and The Blue Scorcher Café.
