Allie Van Nostran is a Vancouver, WA, native with a background in student organizing, union activism, and agroecology. From January through March, as an intern with Columbia Riverkeeper, Allie conducted outreach at Lower Columbia College to raise awareness about the Millennium's coal terminal proposal, encouraging folks to spread the word and get their voices heard. She spoke to hundreds of students, staff and community members, collected contact information, and distributed comment cards to everyone willing to go on record in against the terminal. At the culmination of her internship, Allie facilitated a teach-in on campus, giving students an opportunity to discuss the implications of the coal terminal and commit to future action to prevent it. In her career search, she hopes to balance her calling toward organizing and activism, with her innate desire to be outside and enjoy nature. Thank you, Allie, for all your hard work!
