The Dalles Wastewater Treatment Plant Repeatedly Violated Bacteria Limits

June 7, 2018: According to the City of The Dalles Public Works Department, the city's wastewater treatment plant has returned to compliance with permit limits for E. coli as of June 7, 2018. The city announced its treatment plant released raw or under-treated sewage containing high levels of E. coli starting on May 28, 2018. This is the latest in a string of problems at The Dalles treatment plant.

June 5, 2018: According to the City of The Dalles Public Works Department, the city’s sewage treatment plant is still violating its water pollution permit. Testing shows that bacteria levels at local swim beaches now meet Oregon's water quality standards. May 30, 2018: A malfunctioning sewage treatment plant in The Dalles, Oregon, is discharging under-treated sewage into the Columbia River. Bacterial levels coming out of the sewage plant violated Oregon's water quality standards, and warning signs have been posted at some local beaches. The Dalles sewage treatment plant has repeatedly discharged raw or under-treated sewage into the Columbia in recent years.
