August Spotlight: H20 Heroes

If you’ve enjoyed the Columbia River this summer, you can thank Carly Meyers and Samuel Bertrand for helping to make sure the river is safe and clean for swimming. As our Water Quality Technicians, Sam and Carly test water quality at 16 beaches in the Columbia Gorge and Portland area.

We post the results of their tests on the Swim Guide so that people like you can swim and enjoy the Columbia without worrying about exposure to harmful bacteria. Having Sam and Carly on our team makes this monitoring possible. They care enough about the Columbia to really pay attention and dig in to learn more. They’re also gaining experience as lab technicians that will serve them well as they pursue their academic and professional careers.
