Poesía! Arte! Escritura!

Poetry! Artwork! Writing! All in Spanish!

At the end of January, Columbia Riverkeeper partnered with Washington State Poet Laureate, Claudia Castro Luna, to offer an all-in-Spanish digital poetry workshop to kids and families. Several families and kids joined to learn that anyone could be a poet and shared stories and learned about how poetry and the natural environment connect. Here are some poems submitted by Siena Clayton, 14:

Butterfly

Butterfly, butterfly You fly inside my heart Over mountains and mountains of emotion And when you arrive to my lake of blue tears You light everything with your bright and shining colors You warm me with your dazzling gaze

The Sturgeon

In the darkness the sturgeon lives Swims in the bottom of the river without conclusion Silent, with black eyes it searches with deep determination Lives over the time of a thousand lost souls Old as the mountain spring

Bee

Dark eyes as the infinite space Lives for the honey of life Is the sister of flowers and mother of the earth Without them life will be short
