Stop dangerous oil-by-rail in our communities.
Demand the City of Portland reconsider the approval of Zenith and include public input.
Dear Mayor Ted Wheeler, Commissioner Rene Gonzalez, Commissioner Carmen Rubio, Commissioner Mingus Mapps, and Commissioner Dan Ryan:
After years of massive public opposition to Zenith Energy’s dangerous oil-by-rail operations, your recent decision to quickly and quietly approve a Land Use Compatibility Statement (LUCS) guaranteeing five more years of dirty oil trains in our communities is a serious breach of public trust.
I am calling on you to use your authority to reconsider the recent LUCS approval and include a process for public input. The significant impacts on public health and safety, along with the larger climate crisis demand further investigation. We are fighting for our future. We are counting on you to do the right thing and join us.
You can make a big difference for clean water. Your donation will power victories to protect the places you love.
