Emily Kao, Development Coordinator
Emily work centers around development. Her passion for the Columbia Gorge stems from her childhood playing on the Columbia River which lead her to begin volunteering with Columbia Riverkeeper in high school. Emily holds a BA from Carleton College in Environmental Studies and has continued her education taking courses focused on river restoration after dam removal from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before settling back in the Riverkeeper family, Emily worked with other non-profits in the gorge teaching environmental education and promoting awareness of environmental issues in the region. When out of the office Emily can be found playing with her dog on the river or indulging in local food.
Riverkeeper’s team includes scientists, environmental lawyers, and community organizers. We work to organize and empower local communities, enforce environmental laws, and build strategic coalitions. Our mission is to protect and restore the Columbia River and all life connected to it.
