Miles Johnson, Legal Director
Miles Johnson (he/him) works to reduce water pollution and restore salmon by enforcing the Clean Water Act and providing legal counsel for Columbia Riverkeeper’s campaigns. Prior to law school, Miles worked as a fisheries researcher in Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. As an enthusiastic fish-eater, Miles is personally invested in ensuring that we can all eat fish caught in the Columbia without endangering the health of our families.
What inspires you to do this work?
Learning from people who have spent their lives protecting and enjoying the Columbia River basin, and helping to pass the benefits of this place and its cultures to the next generation.
Riverkeeper’s team includes scientists, environmental lawyers, and community organizers. We work to organize and empower local communities, enforce environmental laws, and build strategic coalitions. Our mission is to protect and restore the Columbia River and all life connected to it.
