Greg Abel, CEO of PacifiCorp's parent company, was asked: "There are proposals pending in Oregon to export both coal and natural gas. How would those projects impact your customers?"
He answered: "On the gas side, if you look at the U.S. there are 14 terminals that have applied for licenses to export. If all 14 go forward, that's one-third of our production on a daily basis that will go international. If we take that kind of supply out of the market, natural gas prices go up, and ultimately it's a negative impact on our customers. So I struggle with permitting that many facilities."
If PacifiCorp is concerned about LNG exports, that says a lot.
