Oregon Love Letters Delivered to Governor

On February 14th (Valentine’s Day & Oregon’s birthday), the office of Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber received a special visit from a large group of Portland-area, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. The middle school students, from Portland’s Sunnyside Environmental School, delivered handmade messages asking the Governor if he loved Oregon enough to block coal export proposals that would affect the state’s communities, families, and natural resources.

Southeast Portland Representative Jules Kopel-Bailey joined the students in the House Chamber to answer their questions, which ranged from energy export to diversity in the House of Representatives and food safety laws.
