Northwest communities are facing an onslaught of coal export and oil-by-rail proposals. All of these proposals rely on railways next to our Columbia River. With their hazardous coal dust and explosive fuel, these trains pose serious risks to our communities. A derailment, spill or explosion could destroy communities, clean water and salmon habitat. There are two major public hearings coming up this month and we need to make our voice against dangerous oil and dirty coal heard.
Washington’s Governor Inslee is asking you about the impacts of oil and coal transport in our communities and waterways. We know oil trains pose serious risks to our health and safety and that those risks are compounded by coal trains. Please attend a public hearing and make your voice, a voice prioritizing clean water, healthy communities and serious action to confront climate change, heard.

Instead of leading the nation in sustainability and green energy, if oil and coal companies are permitted to build their proposed facilities, they would turn our Columbia River and the entire Northwest into a dirty fossil fuel corridor. Speak out at a critical public hearing on dirty fuels in our region.
