Major Victory for Local Climate Action

Portland Policy Restricting Fossil Fuels Upheld

Climate Victory!

On September 29, 2023, Oregon's Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) upheld the City of Portland's rules banning new and expanded bulk fossil fuel terminals. Columbia Riverkeeper intervened in all three fossil fuel industry challenges to these rules, spanning seven years. This is a huge win for public safety, clean water, and our climate. Thanks to Crag Law Center for years of pro bono support.
