Stop Oregon’s Free Pass for Fracked Gas Polluters

Protect Oregonians from climate pollution.

Call on Oregon’s Environmental Quality Commission (EQC), Oregon DEQ, and Gov. Brown to do more to protect Oregonians from climate pollution. And join us for one of the EQC’s upcoming public hearings on September 22 and 30.

Background

With the climate crisis deepening we expect Gov. Kate Brown and Oregon regulators to step up and take bold action. Are they tackling the climate crisis head on? No. Instead, the Oregon Dept. of Environment Quality (DEQ) just released draft rules that give fossil-fuel polluters a free pass.

The draft rules exempt fracked-gas power plants from the program entirely and include numerous loopholes that allow some of Oregon’s largest climate polluters to continue business as usual.

You can find an updated public testimony guide here if you’d like to submit a more lengthy comment or learn more about how to develop an oral comment for EQC’s upcoming hearings. EQC, a commission appointed by Gov. Brown, is the final decision maker on these important rules.
