Take Action: Stand Up to Data Centers

Big Tech’s AI data centers are sucking up Washington’s water, jeopardizing our clean energy goals, and harming communities. Klickitat County can put the brakes on the rampant building of new data centers by passing a moratorium. Tell Klickitat County Commissioners: Big Tech doesn’t call the shots here. Community members demand a moratorium so that we can understand the impacts on the Columbia River, rural communities, electricity bills, and much more.

Dear Commissioners Andrews, Zoller, and Ihrig:

I urge you to support a moratorium on data center development in Klickitat County. We must have time to hear from community members and responsibly assess the burden that Big Tech’s data centers will have on our county and the people who call it home.
The proliferation of data center proposals and construction in Washington and Oregon are taking a massive toll on natural resources, municipal systems, energy affordability, and quality of life. Data center development has gone largely unchecked in Washington. The result: skyrocketing demand for limited energy, rural land, and water resources.

Our water, communities, and climate should come first. We are counting on you to stand up to Big Tech’s race to build data centers and say yes to a moratorium. It is critical that we take the time to fully understand the impacts of data centers. Our future depends on it.
