Stop Democrats in Congress from gutting laws that protect clean water and salmon
Many Democrats in Congress want to help Republicans gut federal laws that protect our clean water, fisheries, and public lands. The Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act (BAAJA) is some of the worst environmental legislation we’ve ever seen seriously proposed. Your Senators and Congressperson need to hear from you, NOW.
BAAJA would open the floodgates to all kinds of dirty energy proposals like new gas pipelines, oil and gas drilling, and hyperscale data centers. Here’s some of what BAAJA really does:
- Effectively repeals the National Environmental Protection Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, and the section of the Clean Water Act that protects wetlands by preventing courts from halting projects that violate these laws.
- Fast-tracks many oil and gas pipelines by exempting them from environmental reviews.
- Makes it more difficult for States to protect streams, rivers, and lakes from harmful pollution and development, including data centers.
- Locks in bad, even illegal, projects. Lets wealthy corporations sue for large taxpayer-funded settlements if States block dirty energy projects.
- Weakens Tribes’ opportunities to engage as sovereign governments, curtails Tribal consultation requirements, and restricts Tribes’ access to court.
The Senate is scheduled to vote on November 9, 2026. Your Senators and Representatives are getting bombarded with greenwashing from their leadership and industry groups. They need to hear that YOU want them to stand up for our basic environmental rules!
