We Stand in Solidarity

Our vision is a Columbia River that unites people to fight for clean water, abundant fish and wildlife, and our climate. We can only achieve this if we raise our voice and use our platform and resources to fight systemic racism.

We stand in solidarity to condemn the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and many other Black people before them who have lost their lives to violence fueled by racism.

It is important for us to listen to Black leaders and activists who have long called out silence as part of the problem. We pledge to use our voices to call for change.

Our vision is a Columbia River that unites people to fight for clean water, abundant fish and wildlife, and our climate. We can only achieve this if we raise our voice and use our platform and resources to fight systemic racism.

We want to lift up incredible organizations, nationally and nearby, that are doing critical work. I encourage you to donate to them and amplify their voices. Here are a few from our staff.

Here are a few more in our region that we admire:

Portland based Coalition of Communities of Color fights for economic and social justice and is coordinating efforts on the Portland Clean Energy Fund.

With organizers across the state of Washington, One America organizes with and advocates for diverse communities, including Latinx, African, and Asian.

Based on the Nez Perce Reservation, Nimiipuu Protecting the Environment is organizing tribal youth and adults in activities for the protection, enhancement, and promotion of mother earth and the Nimiipuu culture.

The MRG Foundation inspires people to work together for justice and mobilize resources for Oregon communities. They provide grants for amazing grassroots organizations.

We are using our platform to:

  • Amplify inspiring stories from the environmental and social justice movements along the Columbia River on our bilingual radio show Conoce tu Columbia
  • Listen to and work in solidarity with tribal nations to reduce toxic pollution and protect the Columbia.
  • Partner with frontline communities to take a stand on climate change and inequality.

We recognize our work is not enough. We pledge to learn and grow, own our mistakes, and continue to fight for the health and safety of river communities.

Thank you for your support and all that you do.
