There was no escaping it. Even while on vacation this summer, every time I saw the news, there was another story about data centers or AI and the absurd amount of energy and water big tech is demanding to build more facilities.

I’ll be blunt: Data center expansion presents a serious threat to the Columbia River. We’ve worked with energy analysts to put together this data center background brief to share what we’ve learned with you.
