Have you been successful in the stock market? Consider making a gift of stock to support clean water and obtain great tax benefits.
Donating Stocks, Bonds, or Mutual Funds – It’s a Win-Win
Donating stock that has appreciated for more than a year is one of the most tax-smart ways to make a difference for your tax liability and the Columbia River. If you donate securities Columbia Riverkeeper receives the full proceeds from the sale and you potentially eliminate capital gains exposure. This win-win could mean more money to protect the places and causes you care about.
Please let us know when you transfer stock and ask your broker to include your name with the transfer so we can thank you and credit your donor record.
IRA Gifts
If you are 70½ or older, you can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA to support the causes you care about. A QCD is a tax-free donation and if you are 73 or older it counts towards your required minimum distribution for the year.
