The rapid buildout of data centers without proper regulations is having a huge impact on our communities, energy prices, and natural resources. Enough is enough: we demand a moratorium on data centers now! Can you join us in Salem for a lobby day in support of a statewide three-year moratorium on data centers?

What: Oregon Data Center Moratorium Rally + Lobby Day

When: September 8, 2026 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

• 9 a.m: Gathering for people who have RSVP’d for the lobby day by Wednesday, September 2
• 12:30 p.m.: Rally on the North Side Capitol steps – open to all!

Where: Oregon State Capitol, 900 Court St. NE Salem OR 97301

What to Wear: Wear Red!

What to Bring: Signs for the rally and a water bottle. Lunch won’t be provided, so we recommend packing a lunch or grabbing something from the Capitol cafeteria or a local business.

The day will consist of meetings with legislators and a rally, and attendees can attend Senate and House Energy & Environment committee informational hearings. RSVP by September 2 so we can schedule meetings with your legislators if possible!

Data centers have a huge impact on our state. We cannot afford to give away our limited water resources to corporations who put their profits ahead of those who call Oregon their home. The electricity demand will exceed our grid capacity and threaten our climate emission targets. Data centers pay no sales tax in Oregon (as they do in other states), but nonetheless are still getting tax exemptions without providing adequate jobs. Some are even building on prime farmland and wetlands. We cannot leave these industries to regulate themselves.

We need Oregon legislators to take action and enact a three-year moratorium to ensure that our current data center problem doesn’t get worse. Public pressure is the most powerful way to demonstrate fierce opposition to unregulated data centers and force our legislators to stand up for our climate and support a data center moratorium bill.
